Precipio SFTP

Export SQL Server data to files and move them over SFTP. Free.

Console (command line) application (free) · Version 2.00 · Dynamics GP 2016 through 18.x

Precipio SFTP is a small command line tool that does one job well: move data between SQL Server and an SFTP server on a schedule.

Define your export, upload, and download tasks in an XML file, point Windows Task Scheduler at it, and let it run. It archives every file it moves, logs each run, and emails you if anything goes wrong. Use it to feed services like BlackLine, Coupa, and IQ BackOffice, or to send Safe Pay and Positive Pay files to a bank.

The challenge

Connecting Dynamics GP to outside services often means exporting data to files and moving those files over SFTP — on a schedule, with logging and archiving. Doing that by hand, or building it from scratch, is more work than it should be.

How Precipio SFTP helps

Precipio SFTP is a command line application that exports SQL Server data to delimited text files, uploads files to an SFTP server, and downloads files from one. It runs on demand or on a schedule, archives everything it moves, logs all activity, and emails you if something fails.

Features

How it works in detail

Processes one or more tasks defined in an XML configuration file, so one run can export, upload, and download.

Data export

Exports SQL Server data to delimited text files for upload to the SFTP server.

SFTP transfer with archiving

Uploads and downloads files over SFTP, and archives everything it moves.

Scheduling, logging, and alerts

Runs from Windows Task Scheduler, logs all activity, and emails you when a task fails.

Getting started

How to put it to work

  1. Define your tasks

Set up one or more tasks in the XML configuration file: what to export, where to upload, and what to download.

  2. Run it or schedule it

Run the command line application directly, or schedule it with Windows Task Scheduler.

  3. Files move and archive

The application exports the data, transfers files over SFTP, and archives everything it moves.

  4. Review the logs

Check the activity log, and receive an email if an error occurs.
